More than 200 teams of people, young and old, locals and keen visitors, took part in Sunday's second i-Spy Challenge around the central streets of Napier.

"It was fantastic turn-out - and we had a lot of people from out-of-town arrive to be part of it," i-Site manager and co-ordinator Jane Libby said.

Teams, many of them family groups, dressed up in costume and enjoyed the challenge of pursuing spot prizes and the big main $5000 prize, as much as they enjoyed the fine weather.

"We've had great weather for the second year - a good sign for the future," Ms Libby said.

The participants followed clues which led them on a two-hour path through the central city and Marine Parade areas.

The event, which would now become an annual Queen's Birthday Weekend fixture, drew business sponsorship for prizes of about $20,000.

Twenty-nine spot prizes were handed out along with 10 speciality prizes.

The main prize had gone to a local family who were unable to be contacted yesterday.

Because as Ms Libby said - "they are already out there enjoying it".

The prize is an extensive Napier holiday package.
