Three very special tours will be staged at very significant times over three days of the Tremains Art Deco Festival - the same time as the six tour guides will go through their trial run tomorrow.
In the company of the Art Deco Trust's heritage officer, Michael Fowler, the guides will set off at 10.47am - the time the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake struck and devastated the central streets of Napier.
The tours will focus on the revival of the inner city landscape where about 140 buildings were built after the earthquake, and the significance of the disaster to the eventual development of the CBD, and to the tourism-attracting world of Art Deco.
Mr Fowler has worked on developing the tours along with a small group of long-term trust volunteers.
"I started working on the idea last June when I started here," he said.
