Napier beachgoers constantly ignoring no-parking signs over the holidays will have a long-walk home from now on if they continue hampering access to Napier Port's main office.
Napier Port infrastructure services manager Michel de Vos said after installing no-parking signs, writing letters and a social media campaign some people going to the beach next to the port were still parking where they should not.
As of yesterday, vehicles defying those signs would be towed away.
"The beach next to Napier Port is increasingly popular. Although Napier Port owns the beach and the grass area around it, we welcome the community using it and treat the beach as a valued community asset – installing a beach shower and landscaping the area."
However, with the increased demand on the beach, people had been parking their cars along the driveway to Napier Port's main office, creating a hazard.
