Nearly 800 submissions have been received regarding proposed changes to speed limits in the Hastings district, which will be considered at a public hearing this Friday.
The Hastings District Council reviewed the speed limits of a number of roads as a result of concerns over urban expansion and increasing numbers of driveways, as well as other road layout safety issues.
The proposals being considered were to lower the speed limit from 70km/h to 50km/h on sections of Arataki Rd, Chatham Rd and Kirkwood Rd.
On Farndon Rd, St Georges Rd and York Rd, it was requested that the limit be dropped from 100km/h to 80km/h.
The council was also asked to set a speed limit of 50km/h on Percival Rd - a new link road between Evenden and Lyndhurst Rds.
