From judging cross country to mapping out the showjumping, Horse of the Year volunteers are the life blood of the event.
Kevin Thompson has been on the HOY volunteer circuit since 2004 and doesn't plan to give up anytime soon - despite taking a break this year for family reasons.
Although this has not stopped him from helping in the lead up to the event, by helping repair jumping equipment, painting rails and showjumping equipment and various other facets that go with the running of the show.
"I have been there from when we did everything manually to computers. I love to be a part of the team and help run the event, it is good fun."
The semi-retired farmer helps out in a myriad of roles from general administration, but is mainly involved in the showjumping side of things.
