And yesterday's garden party was just one of many events on the PSEC 2017 Calendar.
Ms Collin was excited to share news about a new charity shop opening in Napier on March 18.
However unlike many other charity shops this one will have an exciting mission; to redefine and re-purpose donated items.
The charity shop, which will be one of three in the Hawke's Bay region when it opens, currently needs donations of clothing, textiles and sporting goods.
Ms Collins said the donated materials give both the older and younger generations a chance to work together to re-purpose items that were previously unwanted.
Sewing, crocheting, knitting, painting and building are all skills that can be imparted from senior citizens to young people, Ms Collins said.
After purchasing an item from a charity shop entrants must then re-purpose them into something new, fresh and ultimately unrecognisable from what they were before.
The items will then be judged in the Redefine competition with the categories "Surprise Us", "Shabby Chic It", "Rework it", "Animal Magic" and "Hat Trick".
Although some government funding is received, PSEC is responsible for raising the $3.2 million shortfall to ensure that these services can be provided at no cost to those who need them most.
