The nation's new Health Strategy fits snugly with the Hawke's Bay District Health Board's Transform and Sustain programme, says the board's chief executive Dr Kevin Snee.
The national strategy has not been updated since 2000 and the new strategy, released last week, is for 10 years.
"The new strategy has been developed to guide change in the health sector and to lead the transformation to a more innovative, integrated and patient-centred approach to healthcare in New Zealand," Health Minister Jonathan Coleman said.
Dr Snee said the DHB had worked hard to transform the care it provided to the community through its five-year Transform and Sustain strategy launched at the end of 2013.
"Like the Government's recently launched health strategy, it focused on providing a clear road map of the future of health services and how it could be achieved for Hawke's Bay."
