Hawke's Bay's Muslim community is inviting members of the public to join it in prayer as a show of support and unity on Sunday.
The president of the Hawke's Bay Baitul Mokarram Masjid and Islamic Society, Sayeed Ahmed, said the event would be held at the Hastings Sports Centre from 4pm.
Ahmed said he was proud and overwhelmed with New Zealand's kindness, acceptance and freedom of cultures and religions after the Christchurch terror attacks.
He said local Muslims continue to receive gifts and flowers from well-wishers more than three weeks after the deadly shootings.
Yesterday, a sausage sizzle and fundraiser in the centre of Hastings, organised by Radio Kidnappers, drew crowds of people to raise money for victims and their families.
