A chilly spell and a couple of early morning frosts are expected later this week for Hawke's Bay as winter sets in.
MetService forecaster Cameron Coutts said the next couple of days will be a little warmer than average, but occasional winds gusting up to 100km/h in exposed places will extend into Wednesday.
"Then we've got a bit of a cold change come through, and that's pretty cold around the coast but the Bay cities are protected a bit so it's going to be blustery," Mr Coutts said.
Two, three and four-degree overnight temperatures were forecast from Wednesday through to Saturday - so rug up.
He said it'll be mostly dry though, save for some light showers.
