A Hastings District Council spokeswoman said there was one person in its truck at the time of the impact.

A Hastings District Council spokeswoman said there was one person in its truck at the time of the impact.

A recycling worker was thrown from his open truck in a collision with another truck in Havelock North on Tuesday.

The two-truck crash blocked the residential street of Simla Ave in Havelock North. Police, fire and a St John Ambulance were called to the street between Emerald Hill and Franklin Tce at 7.45am.

A Hastings District Council spokeswoman said the driver was the only person in its truck at the time.

“The trucks are left-hand drive and he was ready to step out the door, and was thrown out by the impact, but sustained no injuries apart from a minor strain.”

Two people with minor injuries were assessed and treated at the scene, a Hato Hone St John spokesperson said.
