There was plenty of love, goodwill and festive cheer in the air at the Community Christmas Lunch, hosted by Age Concern Havelock North.
A hundred people and 30 volunteers from all over Hawke's Bay were treated to a feast fit for a king on Friday.
Ham, roast chicken, vegetables, stickydate pudding and pavlova, as well as ice-cream and berries were on offer for anyone alone on the special day or simply young families in need of company.
Santa, full bags of presents for each child and music from the Hapuku family who travelled specifically for the event were spectacular, Age Concern Havelock North financial administrator Carol Winters said.
Having previously held two successful Christmas lunches in 2011 and 2012, the loss of their venue meant the group had to look for alternative premises.
This year it partnered with St Luke's Church and the Havelock North Function Centre which provided the location, table settings, preparation of food and use of the kitchen on the day.
she said.
"The Havelock North Function Centre was set up like a five-star restaurant, with each guest being escorted to their table.
