Hastings is coming to the Art Deco party this weekend as the Bay's mini winter Art Deco Festival kicks off tonight.
After last year's success the Hastings City Tea Dance Amongst the Art is returning on Sunday to treat residents to some 1930s fun.
The event takes place in theHastings Community Art Centre with its Art Deco architecture and wooden floors the perfect destination for one to enjoy an afternoon dance.
Hastings City Business Association general manager Susan McDade said the art centre was such a treasure with its lead-light ceiling and balconies.
"We are very lucky to be able to hold our event here and we are so excited to show off our beautiful city with its unique architecture while supporting the Winter Deco Festival."
For the first time a Deco Dinner Express and Film will also be held in Hastings at the Art Deco styled Focal Point Cinema where a dinner buffet will be served in front of the classic Top Hat with Fred Astaire and Ginny Rogers.
The three-day event begins tonight at the Art Deco Masonic Hotel in Napier with glasses of bubbles, canapes and dance.
Tomorrow night the party continues with the High Society Soiree, an extravagant evening celebrating everything Art Deco.
There will be a red carpet, a dance floor and roulette table with a jazz band carrying everyone through the night.
Other events during the three days will include everything from vintage-car tours and guided tours of the city to fancy dinners and themed burlesque evenings.
