Hastings Councillor Ann Redstone has announced she intends to stand for a second term on council.
Redstone, who represents the Heretaunga Ward, said she believes she can continue to make a valued contribution on the many critical issues the council will have to face in the coming three years.
Shesaid the delivery of a clean, plentiful water supply and ensuring the region's economy continues to thrive and prosper are vital for a positive future.
She said despite a challenging three years, dealing with the aftermath of the Havelock North water crisis, the Craggy Range track and the slip at Cape Kidnappers, she is still keen to give it another go.
Redstone holds the "Planning for our future" portfolio, which covers roading, bridges, footpaths, coastal hazards and reserves management.
"This has certainly given me a broad overview of local issues and allowed me to build strong working relationships to carry through to the next term."
She said the Heretaunga ward covers a broad demographic and diverse physical environment which has rural and urban residents who live and work in coastal areas, towns and country.
"Climate change has become one of the most important conversations, particularly for the coastal residents."
She said as the current Hastings member of the Regional Transport Committee, she is proud of being involved in decision-making on planning and policy making around safety enhancements.
In particular, she is interested in supporting ongoing assistance for driver licences, an important way of improving road safety and helping people to find employment.
"I'd like to be able to ensure affordable, sustainable solutions are at the forefront of our future decision making at the council table."
