The people of Hastings have a chance to host a possible future All Black next week as primary schools rugby tournament organisers search for billets for players in the battle for the Ross Shield next week.
Organising committee chairman Malcolm Dixon said yesterday billets were still needed for 10 players for the tournament, which starts at Lindisfarne College on Tuesday and ends the following Saturday.
Homes away from home have had to be found for about 60 players - three times as many as when the six-team Hawke's Bay tournament was last played in Hastings in 2010.
"We'd like to think there are people who were billeted when they once played in the Ross Shield tournament and would like to return the favour," he said.
Families of the Hastings West and Hastings East teams had arranged billeting of many of the players but more places were being sought, Mr Dixon said.
