A two-year-old girl is in Auckland's Starship Hospital after receiving serious head injuries believed to have been caused when a TV she was climbing toppled on her.
St John Ambulance Service communications adviser Ian Henderson said the service was called to a private address in Dannevirke at 5.43pm, where the girl was assessed and treated.
The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter was called to Dannevirke to fly the girl and her mother to Palmerston North Hospital's emergency department. The hospital transferred the girl to its intensive care unit before she was flown to Auckland in a critical condition.
