"We have changed it up from last year with a much bigger garden and the idea is that everyone can come down even if they're not going to a show and just enjoy the environment."
He said the garden was a beautiful attribute and their aim was to create a lovely ambiance.
In the garden is a bar serving drinks and daily cocktails, a food truck with great food and a coffee and chocolate shop.
One of New Zealand's most successful shows, Daffodils, a classic Kiwi cabaret show, will open the garden and spiegeltent to the public this afternoon.
"It has been performed around the world and all over the country multiple times, it is a really great Kiwi story."
There are over 50 different shows of jazz, comedy, theatre for adults, theatre for kids, contemporary dance, music, cabaret, and much more.
"There is something for everyone with such a variety of shows it will suit a range of desires."
The festival has sold more than 8000 tickets, which meant they were already ahead of last year.
"We sold 8500 by the end of the festival last year and this time we have already sold that many. Nine shows are sold out but we still have plenty more tickets on offer."
One show Mr Leiser recommended was the White Guitar, which features New Zealand hip-hop artist Scribe, his father John and brother Matthia.
"It is a cutting edge theatre show, which has had sell out seasons in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington."
The festival runs for two weeks finishing with the Tami Neilson and Her Hot Rockin' Band Of Rhythm on Sunday, October 16.
"I encourage people to take a leap and choose something they do not usually go to or know about. There is the opportunity to do so and a high chance you will like it as they are all high quality projects."
He said after a few tough weeks in Hawke's Bay it is a great opportunity and place for people to let "their hair down" and enjoy the festival garden and shows on offer.
