For 20 years, the Hastings Rotary Club has helped to pull off the "glamorous" Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter Service cocktail party.
From humble beginnings as a low key fundraiser at the former helicopter hanger in Omahu Rd, it has seen a number of venue changes and is now a must-attend event on the Hawke's Bay calendar.
The evening combines an elegant setting with nibbles, wine and a high-class charity auction.
"Its been regarded as a very glamorous event," said the rotary club's community services committee director, Trevor Arnold. "Being on a Friday night there are a lot of business people who support it. It's a very social thing."
This year people can select from an enticing list of auction items ranging in price, including a unique wood and steel artwork by Ricks Terstappen and an ultimate island getaway to Port Vila.
