Police are still seeking Napier man Jamie Lesley Jones on a warrant to arrest for allegedly assaulting a man who remains in hospital with injuries received when struck by a car in suburban Napier almost a fortnight ago.
Jones, 31, is also now wanted for failing to appear in Napier District Court yesterday on unrelated matters, and police warned that anyone harbouring the fugitive could be liable to prosecution and imprisonment.
Jones was said to have driven-off after an incident late on the morning of December 30 in Waterworth Ave, Onekawa South.
He is now charged with assaulting Napier man Louis Harold Keil, 49, who was taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital in Hastings in critical condition following the incident and was later flown to Middlemore Hospital in Auckland. He is now back in Hawke's Bay Hospital.
Detective Sergeant Darren Pritchard said: "We are still looking to locate Mr Jones, who we know is actively avoiding us, and we are issuing a warning to anyone found to be assisting him.
