A man was caught with his pants down after being chased by police yesterday.
He was wanted on an outstanding warrant for burglary but when police arrived at an Onekawa, Napier address to arrest him he jumped a back fence and fled.
"In the course of running away, he's been discarding clothing in an attempt to put off the dogs," Senior Sergeant Clint Adamson of the Eastern District Command Centre said.
Removing clothing was not an effective tactic to put sniffer dogs off the trail.
"It doesn't work - now he's just running around in his underwear," Mr Adamson said.
