Napier Mayor Bill Dalton is used to cooking up a few ideas or simmering over a debate or two, but getting in the kitchen and coming up with a dish even Jamie Oliver would give the thumbs-up to is a slightly different matter.
Although despite what his wife Shirley would probably say he reckoned he was a magnificent cook.
"But hey, even magnificent chefs can still learn something," he said, adding that yes, he would attend a couple of the free cooking lessons from some of chefdom's finest when a new F.A.W.C! event sizzles into life in Napier in November.
Masterchef judge Ray McVinnie and fellow foodies Julie Biuso, Nici Wickes and Michelin-star chef Roger Jones from the UK, will hold a series of free masterclasses at MTG Hawke's Bay on Saturday, November 1 as part of the F.A.W.C! Hawke's Bay Summer series.
Mr Dalton said he was delighted Napier City Council had got on board as F.A.W.C! was fast-becoming one of the best-known food festivals in New Zealand and was doing fantastic things for the region.
