Former CHB College head boy Fergus Watts is going to apply for a discharge without conviction after admitting running naked on to the pitch during the World Cup cricket match between England and Scotland on February 23 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
The 21-year-old student who was head boy at the college in 2011, and a talented hockey player, who played for the Canterbury men's team last year, pleaded guilty in the Christchurch District Court for a charge of going without authority on to the playing surface at a major sporting event under the Major Events Management Act.
He was remanded on bail until a hearing in June 22.
The prank went viral on social media after the event, with comments such as "Respect to him. About time the ICC got a sense of humour and stopped worrying about sponging advertisers" and "It livened up a dull part of the game ... perfect timing!"
His father, CHB district councillor Andrew Watts, did not want to comment.
