For more years than he can remember, Ormondville's Jim Banks has been entertaining the crowds with his miniature ponies and dogs - and he doesn't intend to retire just yet.
Born on the banks of the Waikato River in 1941, Mr Banks has been on the show scene all his life. His father performed with animals in Buller's Circus and Mr Banks went out on his own 55 years ago.
While Snip, who performs the famous highwire act balancing two metres above the ground, is getting older, she isn't ready for retirement just yet.
"She's showing a bit of age, but like all the other animals, she loves performing," Mr Banks said.
"We're all getting older and it's getting towards the end of an era, but you've got to keep active. We're the only show of a kind left now and Snip is the only dog in the Southern Hemisphere walking the high wire."
