Firefighters yesterday had to bundle their way through a messy situation in Napier yesterday to save a "hoarder's" house from burning down. Two fire trucks from Napier were called to a property on Ted Harpur Place at 12.26pm to attend a two-storey shed fire.
Napier Fire Station senior station officer Bruce Brothersby said firefighters had a slight issue gaining access to the property, but the fire itself had been extinguished quickly.
"It's a hoarder's property, there was a small fire in a shed. One person was in the adjoining house but not in the shed. The occupier was alerted by a neighbour."
The cause of the fire was now under investigation, he said.
