Firefighters spent three hours battling a blaze in a hay barn in Takapau this morning.
Crews from Takapau and Norsewood volunteer fire brigades were called to the scene on a farm on Takapau-Ormondville Rd at about 7.15am.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said the fire was fully involved when emergency services arrived and a digger was called to help bury some of the hay bales.
No homes were threatened but the barn was extensively damaged, he said.
The cause of the blaze was not going to be investigated.
