Dannevirke Police say other people apart from the culprits must be aware of the large robbery from a Hartgill Cres home where firearms were taken.
Among the items stolen was an air rifle with a wooden stock and a break barrel which had the owner's signature carved on it and was painted green. It also has a piece of metal inserted in the top in the shape of a shield.
Also taken were an air pistol, described as a pistol with a break barrel, a BB gun Glock replica, flat-screen television, DVDs, a Brother printer and a white Canon Pixma scanner and printer, along with other household items and tools.
"Obviously stealing this amount of property would have taken some time and planning and someone other than the people who committed the crime will know who carried out the burglary and where some of the property is now," Senior Sergeant Jymahl Glassey of the Tararua Police said.
"The victim is out of pocket by a substantial amount of money and we're asking for assistance in helping them get their property back and hold the people who committed the crime to account."
