It was a quiet Guy Fawkes across Hawke's Bay last night, mirroring the decrease in Fire Service callouts over recent years.
Fire Service Assistant Area Commander Darren Clark said fire safety promotions had attributed to this, with the Fire Service only receiving half a dozen calls per Guy Fawkes night during this period.
"It's just business as usual," said Mr Clark.
"We're not expecting anything interesting, people are a lot more responsible now."
Hastings Senior Station Officer Mike Peachey said though the night had been quiet the potential was always there.
