This was perfect weather for the revamped Village Green opening in Havelock North today.
The community are invited to the unveiling of the $1.5m playground containing a first-of-its-kind water play feature that meanders through the playground with lots of ways to dam and divert water.
The village green also features a skate area and the refurbished Mackersey Family Pavilion, which was shifted to a more central location.
The Mackersey family contributed $150,000 to the $300,000 pavilion project.
The opening celebrations begin at 10am where there will be entertainment by school groups on the newly minted plaza area in front of the Mackersey Family Pavilion.
There will also be a demonstration by SOUF Skateboards on the new skate park.
Mr Best encouraged people to get out and soak up the sun at weekend events as the weather was likely to change again on Monday.
With daylight savings also coming to an end at 3am tomorrow morning that extra light hour in the evening will disappear.
The clocks will go from 3am to 2am making it darker in the evenings and the sunny days shorter.
"On Monday afternoon as a low builds up over the Tasman showers will start to fall and by the evening these should turn to persistent rain."
Mr Best said there was still a degree of uncertainty about but was taking the optimistic approach for the start of the week.
"Depending on the low these showers could come earlier on Monday."
