The scorching summer weather is set to continue this week providing the perfect build-up for match two of the Chappell-Hadlee cricket series.
The Black Caps and Australian cricket teams will be greeted by sunshine and high temperatures when they arrive in Napier this week for the second one-day international.
MetService Forecaster Aidan Pyselman said it would be a settled period for much of the region.
"There will be persistent north-westerly winds bringing hot and sunny weather for most of the week. Unfortunately for you guys there is not much rain on the horizon."
The only chance of rain is on game day but even then Mr Pyselman said it would not be enough to provide any relief for local farmers.
