Hawke's Bay Tourism general manager Annie Dundas says the Havelock North gastro scare has affected a select few accommodation providers in the village.
"I've surveyed about 20 operators and there's actually been very few cancellations," Ms Dundas said.
She said most of the issues had been confined to Havelock North moteliers, but even then people had "rescheduled" rather than cancelling outright.
"And this has included older people or travellers with young children, as obviously they're the most concerned. If there is a positive in all this it's that August is traditionally the quietest month of the year in terms of visitors to the region."
Meanwhile, Napier City Council issued a statement yesterday reassuring people that its water was safe to drink.
