Police are awaiting a postmortem report of a 75-year-old woman who died after being admitted to Hawke's Bay Hospital with a significant brain injury on April 15.
The woman, who was brought taken to hospital by ambulance after a member of the public called 111, lived in a Hastings District Council pensioner housing complex, Tui Vale, in Camberley alongside other mainly-elderly residents.
On Sunday Detective Sergeant Craig Vining said while the incident was not currently being investigated as a homicide police were continuing to explore the circumstances leading up to April 15 and what factors, if any other than medical, may have contributed her injury and resulting death.
Today Mr Vining said he couldn't comment on whether police considered the injuries non-accidental. He said the woman's name would be released later this week after next of kin were informed.
