A man has been confirmed dead and four others injured at a serious crash involving a ute and car in Waipawa tonight.
State Highway 2 near the Central Hawke's Bay town is closed while police investigate the cause of the crash which happened at about 7:30pm.
It's understood the vehicles collided just south of the Waipawa Bridge, near Ongaonga Rd.
The four others have minor injuries only.
