Thousands of toys and other treats will find their way into the homes of families in need, spreading festive cheer on December 25.
Gabby Allen, founder of the successful Facebook page "Out and About with Kids in Hawke's Bay", was behind the 12 Days of Christmas campaign which prompted an amazing explosion of generosity.
Today, Dove Hawke's Bay and The Salvation Army in Napier and Hastings will load up their vehicles with a wonderful array of gifts to be distributed to their networks.
"It's just amazing, there are 2000 toys from tiny things like stickers and bubbles to big ticket items such as Lego and scooters; 400 new soft toys, 400 items of new clothing and shoes, 400 books, 500 items of food, from baked beans to hams and Christmas cakes, 200 toiletries and hundreds of second hand items," Mrs Allen said.
The drive had became a full time job, eight hours a day, seven days a week - picking up and sorting everything that came in - but a positive result was reward enough.
