Dannevirke High School student Rebecca Aplin will represent New Zealand at the Christchurch Royal Show in November.
The Year 12 student has been named in the Royal Agricultural Society equestrian youth squad to defend the show-riding title won by the New Zealand team in Britain last year.
Aplin is no stranger to success, having won many national show-riding titles.
In Christchurch the focus will be on the rider, with horses and ponies assigned to the British, Australian and New Zealand riders dependent on the riders' size.
The inaugural 2016 team challenge was hosted by Britain's National Pony Society, where squad members on supplied mounts competed in ridden and led events designed by the host society.
