The Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) has appointed an industry heavyweight as its new deputy head.
Industry Training Federation chief executive Mark Oldershaw will assume his new role at EIT in February next year.
Mr Oldershaw, who was born and raised in Hawke's Bay and has spent the last 12 years in Wellington, said he had wanted to return to the region for some time.
"EIT's national reputation was certainly a magnet for me. It's a really well-respected institution and I see the deputy chief executive's position as a big and challenging role."
The Napier Boys' High School old boy began his career as a chartered accountant, later assuming the role of director of government relations and advocacy at PR company Network Communication. He has held a number of general manager and chief executive roles in industry, political and arts organisations, including the World of Wearable Arts. He was also the musical director for the Napier Operatic Society's production of Mamma Mia this year.
