An 8-year-old boy suffered neck and leg injuries when he tripped and fell down a steep section of the goat Track on Te Mata Peak this afternoon.
The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter responded to the incident and due to the terrain and remote access to the site a paramedic on board the rescue helicopter was winched down to retrieve the patient.
He was flown to Hawke's Bay Regional Hospital for further treatment.
