A huge congratulations to Detective Inspector Mike Foster and his team who last week accomplished a record methamphetamine bust in Hawke's Bay.
Communities throughout New Zealand have been crying out for help as the effects from this terrible drug destroys people, families and even communities.
We can be proud ofthe fact that Hawke's Bay police have been quietly and efficiently working away at ridding our streets of methamphetamine.
This bust, which has been six months in the making, resulted in 13 people being arrested for high level drug offending.
The 3kgof P seized, which would have netted the sellers around $2.5 million, will never make it on to our streets.
Neither will the 2200 LSD tabs, eight firearms, six upmarket vehicles and a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle.
As we all know P is the reason for a lot of crime in Hawke's Bay as users steal and sell to pay for their habit. I've said this before and I'll say it again, receivers of stolen goods should be harshly penalised.
It is imperative that addicts and their families get help but the people making money from other people's misery are the ones whoneed our full attention.
