Donald Trump is a joke for the American republican party.

Donald Trump is a joke for the American republican party.

I would like to think that not many people, even the most ardent Republican supporters, would want Donald Trump to be the man with the power to push the nuclear button.

Mr Trump, the outspoken property magnate, was great when he was firing people in his hit The Apprentice television shows. As a contender for the Republican nomination for the next United States presidential elections, he is a joke.

It is incredible that he is doing so well in the polls, but one can only shudder to think what our planet would be like if the unthinkable happens and "The Don" gets to call the Oval Office his own for four years.

People may say that it will never happen, but then again many thought George W Bush would never be elected and look what happened there.

Although the Fox News Republican Presidential Debate made for great television, it was terrible to see what should have been a serious debate among contenders vying for a shot at the presidency reduced to a circus.

It takes some doing to turn a Fox News anchor into the good guy, but that is what Mr Trump succeeded in doing when he made derogatory remarks about Megyn Kelly after the show.

Mr Trump took umbrage at her tough question on his attitude to women and in turn demeaned her as a woman. Ms Kelly has come out well in the stoush, saying that she can handle it and indicating that she won't be intimidated by Mr Trump.

Hopefully the Republican Party will see through Mr Trump's charade and reject him as a serious candidate as soon as possible.
