Editorial: Test match shouldn't be missed

If you are a rugby fan and have some spare cash handy, I reckon a wise investment would be a couple of tickets to the first All Blacks test to be played at McLean Park in many a year.

Yes, the ABs are coming to town to play Argentina in an Investec Rugby Championship test match at McLean Park in Napier on September 6.

The good thing for local fans is that they will be able to get their hands on tickets from 9am today.

Tickets went on sale to Magpies sponsors and season members three weeks ago, while the NZRU also had tickets for sponsors and others, but from today anyone and everyone can buy tickets.

I would encourage all fans to do so, because it will be quite a night. Some people may say that it is only Argentina, but as we know the South American team is quite capable of playing some very good rugby.

Also, the All Blacks may still be on their winning streak (currently on a record-equalling 17 straight wins), so it would be exciting to see them extend that. The way they are playing at the moment indicates that that is a distinct possibility.

But the main reason why we should all support this test match in our own back yard is because if we don't, we may not get many more in the future.

Test matches like this do not come around too often for the regional centres, so it is up to us as Hawke's Bay rugby supporters to show our support and buy tickets.

So, go and grab a couple and support rugby in Hawke's Bay.
