Finally we have a date for the 2013 Mission Concert.

All we need to know is who the headline act will be.The highlight of Hawke's Bay's summer calendar, next year's Mission Concert will be held on Saturday February 23.

SEL operations manager Garry Craft told Hawke's Bay Today an
artist had been signed and would probably be named by the end of the month.

I have heard so much about the Mission Concert and I am looking forward to going.

It is one of those events that you go to even if the artist is not exactly your cup of tea.

There has been much rumour and speculation for months and names like Paul McCartney, Paul Simon and ex-Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler have been mentioned.

The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac were also popular rumours, but they were taken off the table when organisers of the event began referring to the act as "him".

Most people I have spoken to wanted Bruce Springsteen to be the one, but apparently he was too pricey.

It would have been great seeing The Boss in action, but any of the above names would be good. I saw Paul Simon in concert in South Africa about 20 years ago and found him very entertaining.

A lot could have changed in 20 years, but I probably would still go if it was him.

There is probably only one famous singer from yesteryear that would not appeal to me. I don't want to offend his many fans, but he is a Sir and his first name is Cliff.
