The Gastro Crisis in Havelock North has exacted a huge toll on our community.
The crisis, because that is what it is, has affected people physically, emotionally, probably mentally and most certainly financially. It has brought stress to many of us from the elderly and the children who have beenlaid low to their carers and even, dare I say it, to Hastings Mayor Lawrence Yule and his team.
But history will judge how well this crisis has been handled and so far the consensus from many would be that there would be more learnings than successes to come out of it.
As a newspaper, we are trying to keep you informed as much as possible. We have cleared our local news pages each day to give you as much information as possible. During the day we have been updating our website and Facebook page to ensure you know what is going on.

We plan to keep on investigating this story. Every day we are finding out new things, but we have to be responsible about it. We want to find out what caused the problem and we will continue asking the hard questions of the council and the Hawke's Bay District Health Board.
