Editorial: Modelling can boost confidence

HAWKE'S Bay Today covers some tough issues, with in-depth reporting on topics such as the Ruataniwha dam and the proposed amalgamation.

We cover a vast array of topics including crime, politics, health, breaking news and community issues.

However, there is also a lighter side to this newspaper. One that likes to have fun with our community.

Our latest step in this direction is our Indulge Model Search.

This campaign is not about donning a bikini and strutting down a catwalk. We are looking for models, male and female, in age groups 18-30 years, 31-49 years and 50-plus years.

It's about an "empowering journey for courageous local men and women of all shapes and ages".

So far we have had an amazing response with entries flooding in. But they are mainly from the younger age group and from women.

We have some great prizes up for grabs so why not put yourself out there and do something totally out of your comfort zone.

It's about having fun, meeting new people and being happy with how you look and feel about yourself no matter what age you are or what body shape you have.

Many people find it really hard to put themselves in the limelight preferring to stay in the background and let others take centre stage.

Our model search is the perfect way for these people to build their self-esteem and confidence.

So don't be shy, join in.
