The "Big Easy" cycling event is on again this April, with the organisers predicting big numbers taking part.
Described as "an antidote to the serious Lycra-laden cycling events held" the take-your-time and "enjoy the trails" Hawke's Bay ride drew about 1000 people in 2013. Last year that number rose to about 1500.
The Big Easy is a 45km ride where cyclists are encouraged to take as long as they like and it is designed to profile the Hawke's Bay trails.
It was launched by Hawke's Bay Tourism, the Napier City Council, the Hastings District Council, Hawke's Bay Regional Council and Sport Hawke's Bay.
Hawke's Bay Tourism general manager Annie Dundas said registrations were now open.
