The YFC (Young Farmer Contest) East Coast region has been given two big tasks in this year's National Bank Young Farmer of the Year competition.
In addition to the regional final in Waipukurau on March 12, it will also stage the national final, a four-day event in Masterton from June 29
to July 2, culminating with a telecast from the last night's gala event and big announcement. Organisers say the region is fortunate to have a strong history with the event, now in its 43rd year.
Among those involved in the organisation is Patoka farmer and 2007 national Young Farmer of the Year Callum Thomsen, who has been appointed YFC East Coast region manager.
