Drugs, ammunition seized

Tararua police seized drugs and ammunition during a drug bust in Pahiatua.

Drugs and ammunition were seized by Tararua police during a drug bust in Pahiatua last Friday.

"Two search warrants were executed on Friday morning, with the help of the armed offenders squad," Sergeant Tony Le Sueur of the Pahiatua Police said. "One of the warrants resulted in a quantity of packaged cannabis for supply, methamphetamine, drug utensils and some ammunition being uncovered.

"As a result, a 38-year-old local man and a 48-year-old local woman were arrested and jointly charged with possession of cannabis for sale and possession of methamphetamine.

"The man was also charged with possession of ammunition."

Mr Le Sueur said both people are appearing in the Palmerston North District Court today.

"This was a significant drug bust and came about as a result of information which had come forward from the community, including Crimestoppers," he said.
