Motorists travelling all the region's main highways over the following week are being urged to stick to temporary speed restrictions which have been set up.
They are also being advised that on State Highway 5 between Napier and Taupo between Eskdale and Tarawera, and SH50 between Omahu and Takapau there will be road-marking vehicles operating.
"Care is needed around the roadmarking vehicles as they are slow moving," An NZ Transport Agency spokesman said.
