Hawke's Bay police will be out in force the next few days and nights.
"Keep your families safe this time of the year," Hawke's Bay road policing manager Inspector Matt Broderick said. Drink-driving checkpoints would be operating.
The 250mics drink-drive limit introduced earlier this year will be rigorously enforced.
"The public regularly report suspected drunk drivers and we thank them for doing so. The chances of being caught are extremely high," Mr Broderick said.
Drink-driving checkpoints set up last weekend in Napier, Hastings and Havelock North saw 1350 cars stopped. Police were pleased that only four drivers were caught over the limit.
