A "desperate offender" will serve nearly two years in jail after committing a spate of petrol station drive-offs and donation box thefts just months after he had been released from prison.
Quentin Robert Terure, 27, appeared in Napier District Court yesterday where Judge Geoff Rea handed him 21 months' imprisonment.
Terure admitted seven counts of theft which relates to petrol he stole from six different stations throughout Hawke's Bay and one petrol station in Wanganui.
Police charge sheets state the total value of petrol stolen was $300.
He also pleaded guilty to 11 counts of shoplifting as well as two counts of burglary, one count of breaching release conditions and one count of resisting police.
