Hawke's Bay regional councillors have voted not to appoint another Maori committee member to replace Tom Belford who resigned from the committee last week.
The council's Maori committee is made up of a mix of elected councillors and other members appointed by various Maori groups.
It meets every two months and makes recommendations to the council on matters affecting Maori.
Mr Belford has been a member of the committee since shortly after being elected a councillor in 2013 but said last week he did not believe the committee was being given the opportunity to address significant issues.
The committee has previously operated with three councillor members and the council voted yesterday to revert to that situation rather than appoint a replacement for Mr Belford.
