With families spending an afternoon under the trees at Dannevirke's upper Domain as temperatures soared, Saturday's Christmas in the Park was a sizzler.
Organised by the combined churches of Dannevirke and bolstered by a $450 grant from the Community Board, the event followed on from the Christmas parade, with young and old making the most of the venue to enjoy an afternoon of free entertainment and a free sausage sizzle.
"It was very successful, with 300 free sausages cooked," Dannevirke Community Board chairman Ross MacDonald said.
Families picnicked under the trees, listening to the music and later joining in the Christmas carols, with everyone agreeing the event was a perfect way to make the most of the picturesque Domain.
