Six weeks into their 19-week course in building and carpentry, young men from the Tararua can already see some constructive results.
The students, with Eastern Institute of Technology tutor Campbell Johnston (CJ), have put theory into practice, completing the construction of a shelter and seating area around the skateboard park in Allardice St, with the Dannevirke Community Board contributing $2000 towards the cost of materials.
"In the classroom, the boys are flying through their modules and now we have finished the work at the skateboard park our next job will be for the Tararua District Council designing and building a racking system for the storage of more than 200 white Field of Remembrance crosses," CJ said.
